I think the correlation you are suggesting is weak and may apply to only a small minority. But I may be wrong because I never really looked into it in any depth merely thought experiments.

One coming out of the JW who was once very zealous maybe from suffering burnout does an internet search and learns TTATT. Depending on how well he recovers from lack of energy and drive,,he may simply because of all that he has invested into the truth wish to just forget the whole thing as and move on with his life.

Or they may feel a deep desire for exposing them as much as possible so they go bankrupt and make that their new #1 priority in life.

It's a toss up like heads or tails to me with perhaps many other catagories beside just 2.

Immortality[edit]
In his 2005 book, The Singularity is Near, Kurzweil suggests that medical advances would allow people to protect their bodies from the effects of aging, making the life expectancy limitless. Kurzweil argues that the technological advances in medicine would allow us to continuously repair and replace defective components in our bodies, prolonging life to an undetermined age.[47] Kurzweil further buttresses his argument by discussing current bioengineering advances. Kurzweil suggests somatic gene therapy; after synthetic viruses with specific genetic information, the next step would be to apply this technology to gene therapy, replacing human DNA with synthesized genes.[48]

while reading the magazines the other day it occurred to me that jws never really had a very good answer to that question.

because it was aimed at young people and it said something along the lines, "if you believe in god you have a purpose, but if you don't believe in god your life has no purpose or meaning".

i think that is a faulty analysis of the situation.

I tend to shy away from all the isms,, communism, socialism, pessimism, futurism, watchtowerism, to name a few. But if one is desperate for a purpose and meaning in life then choose one and see.

I tend to see this as a personal issue and varied responses depending on ones religious indoctrination, cultural conditioning, as well as education. I tend to find life a mystery and the question of purpose very subjective in nature so I do not use my brains cells to process the question as it would be meaningless in my estimation and because I got a lot on my plate/mind right now with all the information I'm getting on the internet to process.

Not saying it is a complete waste of time, just for me it is presently maybe when on on my deathbed I'm might ponder it more as I head to that great computer in the sky and download all my data.

its sounds too good to be true but hey technology is increasing and we have moore's law working in our favor and quantum computers in production already which i think will lead to even more sophisticated solutions to our problems that need solutions.. i think they will make it cheaper and cheaper to live and for everybody to benefit from it, making wars a thing of the past once countries have enough resources.

A know it all attitude leads to brain shrinkage. A healthy part of being young is brain plasticity the ability to rewire neuronal pathways, youre no longer looking at the world as a child observing and coming to conclusion because of preconceived conclusions programmed into you by the Watchtower's reeducation program through meeting attendance and repetition of corporation themes, by personal study.

Think for yourself, an not what has been programed into you. Take at easy man and I wish you the best. O and why would you want to be an elder? Why not aspire to something more beneficial like something you could make a good living for your future wife and kids?

Hey Loot I just couldn't resist:

God wanted humans to multiply and serve him. Usually the self purpose of most people is to be happy and they usually are when they apply God's purpose.

So you are sounding a tad bit biased don't you think? It has been ingrained in your mind to naturally think that way from the time you were a baby no doubt,, but think back if that is all you are taught it might be better analyze those belief because you got the rest of your life ahead of you. Since now you are entering into adulthood and as such . Your brain will serve you better and be healthier if your search leads you to some more profound changes in understandings of the worlds and the Deities we have imagined up. In the begining there is discomfort but it is all good so just consider them growing pains in the ass that eventually lead to greener pastures so to speak.

What is the Watchtower view on donating to charity?

i've always had the impression that they frowned upon it, but never quite knew for sure.....

When I was first coming into the JWs around 1972 or perhaps 73 their was a 55minute public I heard that put down all charities pretty much as scaming people of money and they cited high salary corporation members to give the impression they don't do much real good for society and God's kingdom was the answer to man's woes so money was much better off in the hands of the WT instead of their poor members donating to some charity.

Hey the WT draws uneducated low wage earners and prays on their gulibility they don't want any of that money going to charities instead of them. They were much more brazen then but you never know times may get so bad for them that may stoop even lower in the asking for cash to stay afloat thing. They already want take a kids ice cream money, and dump his toys down the trash can so I say they will stoop much worse.

I'm sure they are getting desperate and have a very bad credit rating already,,, as a sinking corporation due to bad deluded management. So bye bye Kingdom Halls and anything they can sell to keep afloat, because these clown are on the cusp of a great tribulation as popularity takes a nose dive among the rank and file.

Being in his presence and emptying being holy in praise of being in his glorious presents? And give purpose to his life to spend eternity bowing to God? Being his cheerleaders singing his praise?

I wonder what and merge with technology will do to are DNA as we merge into it farther in the future, perhaps more computer simulation universes like ours I don't know but what ever it is maybe staying in the "diamond light" may be a condition of no more rebirths but plunging into the source and saying mentally there forgetting the desire to be reborn and stay a level higher perhaps getting out of Wheel of Samsara and entering Nirvana.
